A common experience among people who struggle with digestive issues is to be prescribed antacids and given vague diagnoses such as “Irritable Bowel Syndrome.” If their digestive symptoms continue to get worse, their doctor may recommend invasive and uncomfortable imaging such as colonoscopies or endoscopies. Naturopathic Medicine takes a different approach. By accurately identifying the root cause —underlying food sensitivities, bacterial infections or imbalances, yeast overgrowth, among others — we can design and implement a path forward to true healing and complete symptom resolution.

Even if you have been struggling with digestive symptoms for decades, we can correct and eliminate constipation, diarrhea, gas, bloating, nausea and heartburn, and restore your digestive system to its optimal state.

What are food allergies/sensitivities?

  • Food sensitivities — commonly called “food allergies” — occur when the body mistakenly identifies a food as a threat and starts to make antibodies against that food. This can happen for many reasons, from changes in the bacterial balance of your gut following antibiotics or food poisoning to eating while stressed or even taking antacids! When you eat a food that your body is sensitive to your immune system reacts by increasing inflammation which leads to symptoms including constipation, diarrhea, gas, bloating, nausea, heartburn, etc.

How does food sensitivity testing and gut rebalancing help me heal?

  • By accurate identifying the foods that are causing inflammation and irritation in the gut and removing them from your diet, we give your digestive system time to heal. While you temporarily avoid these foods, Dr. Storm will prescribe a healing gut protocol that will repair the cells of your gut, balance your gut bacteria, and make you less reactive in the long run.

Do I need to avoid these foods forever?

  • As your gut heals, your symptoms disappear. Once your gut is fully healed, we can reintroduce some or sometimes all of these foods, without the return of your symptoms. Often, however, there are a small handful of foods that are so irritating to the lining of the gut that they cause long term issues when eaten. For most, the feeling of being healthy and free from digestive symptoms makes avoiding these last couple of foods more than worth it. Dr. Storm will provide you with abundant resources to make food sensitivity removal easy and delicious.

Can I benefit from rebalancing my gut?

  • If you struggle with constipation, diarrhea, IBS, gas, bloating, nausea, lack or appetite, stomach or abdominal pain, gut health support is essential. By identifying the causes of your symptoms and healing and rebalancing the gut from the inside out, MANY health issues resolve. Patients report that along with regaining optimal digestive function, their migraines, acne, joint pain, mental fog and fatigue, sleep issues, and weight issues disappear.

When do I come in?

  • If you have been struggling with digestive symptoms for over four weeks, and as soon as possible if you have recently experienced traveler’s diarrhea, food poisoning, or taken a round of antibiotics.

“When I was 8 years old I had bladder surgery to correct an abnormality that was causing frequent urinary tract infections and occasionally even kidney infections. The surgery was very painful and recovery took a very long time. My mom tells me I used to cry myself to sleep while I was healing. Flash forward into my adult years and I was still having urinary tract infections, about 2 times a month, often after having sex, even using excellent hygiene practices. I was taking antibiotics for each infection, who gave me horrible stomach pains and digestive issues. I started to see a functional medicine practitioner to help with my digestion, and when he found out about my surgery and the scar over my bladder, he recommended I see Dr. Storm. I was extremely nervous about needles, but in just 2 treatments I was no longer having UTIs! It’s 4 months since my last treatment, and this is the first time in my life that I can remember not having pelvic pain or pain after sex. Also, no more antibiotics! This was such a game changer and I cannot recommend scar therapy enough!”
